Dear John

.

Like most women, I'm a hopeless romantic. My favorite type of books to read are romance books. I usually read historical romance novels, but my friend gave me Dear John by Nicholas Sparks to read and I have to say I loved it.

About the book -
"An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love—and face the hardest decision of his life."

About the author -
Nicholas Sparks is most famous for his romance books. His books Message In A Bottle, The Notebook, and A Walk To Remember which have all been made into movies.

My thoughts about the book -
Dear John is a classic Nicholas Spark book as it is a novel about romance. The thing with Dear John is that not only is it about romance, it also has a sub-plot about the relationship between a man and his father. This book is spell binding as it makes you want to read more and find out what happens, but it is also and easy read where you can take it with you and read while waiting at an appointment. My favorite quote in the book is this one....

"I finally understood what true love meant...love meant that you care for another person's happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be."

I definitely recommend Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.

My g/f LOVES Nicholas Sparks and highly recommends the book too, Tammy! I'm looking forward to the film! But the book usually is so different than the movie. I definitely have this one on my reading wish list.

Have a wonderful day, Tammy! :))

Not sure if this is a guy book, but I certainly love the last quote, "I finally understood what true love meant...love meant that you care for another person's happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be."

Isn't that the truth!

Off to deal with the snow!
